Jamē works with artists to create high quality art firmly grounded in science. She leads STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts, and Math) workshops for teachers interested in engaging kinesthetic learners. Jamē creates education experiences connecting scientific facts to dance to foster learning, thus helping people develop creative, actionable ideas. She uses the performing arts to increase participation in discussions about today’s environmental challenges. Jamē McCray is an interdisciplinary ecologist with a passion for dance and theater. As the director of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center, he has led the Indiana Climate Change Impacts Assessment.ĭr. In 2016, he was named a Public Engagement Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and he is a Fellow of the Ecological Society of America. Dukes received a Ph.D from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University, both in Biological Sciences. Much of his experimental work seeks to inform and improve climate models. Dukes’s research examines how plants and ecosystems respond to a changing environment, focusing on topics from invasive species to climate change. He holds the Belcher Chair for Environmental Sustainability in the College of Agriculture. We hope these presentations will expose students to a diverse group of scientists and science career paths, including both formal and informal science, and let them see science in ways that they may not get to do in a traditional classroom setting. Scientist To Go presentations can highlight how the scientist ended up where they are today, what they are researching, and/or anything else that they want to highlight about their scientific career.

These 45 minute sessions are made up of around 20–25 minutes of presenting from the scientist and around 15–20 minutes of questions and answers from students. Our Scientist To Go program allows for students to meet with a wide range of scientists and to learn a little bit more about what they do.
